Connecting components in Altium designer Schematics

Wiring in Altium! Also, how to create labels, set your grid, select groups, copy and move all around.

Version used: Altium 17.

After placing a few components it's time to connect them.

At your schematics sheet press p+w to put wires.
You'll notice that now there is a cross attached in your cursor. To quit the wiring tool press "Esc" or mouse right click

TIP: Always be sure that you see a red cross while connecting, it assures the connection is being made. Sometimes the component has a different grid and it doesn't properly connects.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After clicking in the first pin, the wiring tool is a dotted line. If you press spacebar you'l change the direction of the line.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are not pleased with your wire path after doing some curves, use backspace to undo it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a good practice, avoid connecting parts directly. Sometimes the wire may not be placed because the grids doesn't match. Use always wires (p+w)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Press g to change the grid and look at the bottom left of your screen.

TIP: To avoid problems in your connections and to make it faster, always set the grid to 10.
TIP2: Most of libraries use grid 10 to create components, but some of them doesn't. In this case change your grid only for those who need. Is faster to use Grid 10 as much as you can.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Net Labels are used to link different connections in the schematics without using a line. It keeps everything more clean and organized.
Press p+n to place a net label then press "Tab" to change it's properties.

Attention! If your project has more than one schematics sheet, net labels doesn't link between different schematics.
Attention2! Be 100% confident that your labels text are exactly the same in all labels you want to connect between.
Attention3! Always expect to see the red cross in your connection, otherwise it wasn't made. Use a compatible grid, preferable grid 10.

TIP: In bus labeling you can add a number at the end of your label, as an index. Every time you click to place a label it will automatically add the label index.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to select objects you'll notice that when you click and hold to create a box from left-to-right the rectangle will be blue and from right-to-left it will be green. The blue box selects all that is fully inside the rectangle while the green selects all that is only touching the box.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can fully copy blocks only using the shift holding function, same from this post.

OK, now all main tools has being explained, just get used to use them and increase your drawing speed!
